ART OF SHAVING - ERGONOMICS PROJECT

The primary purpose of this project is to develop an ability to identify, and affect by design, the ergonomic scenarios that exist when people use products. These products will be studied using a custom set of ergonomic testing tools developed by each student. The tools will be used for defining and documenting measurable data regarding user tendencies, preferences and the product’s physical, ergonomic performance in use. This information will be used as a reference to develop a creative, effective and data-supported redesign of the product. For this project, an Art of Shaving razor was the chosen product. Through user testing, the pros and cons of the current razor were discovered, and new models were built based on those discoveries. These new models were tested using a variety of men with varying hand sizes. The initial product was based on all of this research and user testing.
