ORIGINAL - BANG & OLUFSEN - COMMUNICATION DEVICE

Brand is the image of a company/organization/entity expressed through a collection of tangible and intangible characteristics consistently found in its products or touch points. Overview: Different companies connect with users/customers through their brand, which may be expressed through various touch points (products, advertising, website, retail space, packaging, etc). Relative to products, a brand may be associated with unique functionality, form, materials, finishes, colors, graphics, sounds, etc. This project is focused on embodying brand characteristics in a given product, by creating a product extension. The extension will be in the form of a new product, which relect an appropriate level of innovation, interface and functionality. Design Intent: Each designer is to develop concepts for a mobile communication device for an existing brand. Select a brand that could conceivably have one of this type of product in their product line, but does not currently have one. Designs must take into account the internal component parameters, which will be provided after the concept review. The chosen brand was Bang and Olufsen, and the designed device is called BeoChat. This device has a main unit which can hang in your work ofice or home. When one receives a call on their cell phone, it automatically connects to BeoChat. When one must leave the area of the main unit, he/she can carry one of the portible BeoChat pods. This pod has a speaker and is meant to replace the main wall unit when traveling from room to room, to work, to school, or anywhere else.
